La Gloria Cubana Medaille D'Or No. 4 — tasting notes and pricing context
La Gloria Cubana — 'The Glory of Cuba' — was founded in Havana in 1885 and produced continuously through the 20th century. The Medaille D'Or line is named after the gold medals the brand won at European exhibitions in the late 1800s. The No. 4 is the line's most-traded vitola — a slender 5-inch Petit Cetro at 36 ring, designed for aficionados who prefer slim, elegant cigars over the contemporary thick-ring trend.
The smoke is delicate and floral. First third opens with butter, hay and a faint orange-blossom note; the middle drifts into the brand's signature creamy cedar with a touch of honey; the last third delivers a smooth, slightly sweet finish. Slim ring gauge means a tighter draw and a more concentrated flavour. A box of 25 sits in the €315 to €395 range: Noblego runs around €335, Cigarmust CHF 380 (~€400). Increasingly hard to find in some markets — the slim-ring format has fallen out of fashion.
