About this cigar
Partagás Serie D No. 4 — tasting notes and pricing context
The Partagás Serie D No. 4 is the cigar most experienced Cuban smokers nominate as the best-value premium robusto on the market. Same dimensions as the Cohiba Robustos (5 inches × 50 ring) but with the Partagás factory's signature heavier, more pepper-forward blend, the Serie D No. 4 was relaunched in 2001 and has been a runaway commercial success ever since. The wrapper is a darker, oilier Habano than Cohiba's; the filler leans heavier on Vuelta Abajo ligero, which is what gives the cigar its distinctive black-pepper and earth opening.
For the buyer, the Serie D No. 4 is one of the best price-spread cigars in the Habanos catalogue. Germany's Noblego runs roughly €524 per box of 25; Italy's licensed tabaccherie list €545; Ireland's James J. Fox Dublin €555; Switzerland's Cigarmust CHF 587 when discounted (~€616 after FX). The €90+ spread between cheapest and dearest European retailer is one of the widest in the standard Cuban catalogue and translates to almost four free cigars per box if you compare first. The cigar ages exceptionally well — three to five years in a humidor smooths the pepper into something closer to a Cohiba's complexity.
