Quai d'Orsay No. 50 — tasting notes and pricing context
Quai d'Orsay was created in 1973 for the French state tobacco monopoly SEITA, named after the quai along the Seine that houses the French Foreign Ministry. For 40 years the brand was distributed only in France; in 2016 Habanos S.A. expanded distribution worldwide and gave the line a complete refresh with three new vitolas. The Quai d'Orsay No. 50 is the most-traded of the modern range — a 4.9-inch Robusto at 50 ring, designed to deliver the brand's signature gentle, creamy profile in the most popular Cuban format.
The smoke is the mildest Cuban robusto in continuous production. First third opens with butter, hay and a faint floral note; the middle drifts into Quai's signature creamy cedar with a touch of honey; the last third delivers a smooth, slightly sweet finish that holds for the full hour. A box of 10 sits in the €245 to €310 range: Noblego runs around €265, Cigarmust CHF 295 (~€310). Excellent first-Cuban-robusto for milder smokers.
