San Cristóbal de la Habana La Punta — tasting notes and pricing context
San Cristóbal de la Habana is one of the youngest active Cuban brands, launched in 1999 to commemorate the founding of Havana. The four core vitolas are named for the historic forts that guarded the colonial city — La Punta, La Fuerza, El Morro, and El Príncipe. La Punta is the most-traded of the four — a 5.5-inch Campana at 52 ring, in the Pirámides family but slightly smaller than the Monte No. 2.
The smoke is balanced and approachable. First third opens with cedar and a faint sweetness; the middle drifts into coffee, leather and a touch of toasted bread; the last third delivers a smooth, slightly woody finish that holds for the full 60 to 75 minutes. A box of 25 sits in the €495 to €595 range: Noblego runs around €515, Cigarworld €530, Cigarmust CHF 570 (~€600). One of the easier entry points to Cuban pyramids — the format is intimidating but the blend is welcoming.
