Sancho Panza Belicosos — tasting notes and pricing context
Sancho Panza is one of the older Cuban brands, named after Don Quixote's loyal squire and in continuous production since the 1850s. The brand is rolled at the Romeo y Julieta factory and uses a gentler blend than the more famous Romeo line. The Belicosos is the brand's flagship pyramid — a 5.5-inch Belicoso at 52 ring, in the same format family as the Montecristo No. 2 but with a notably milder profile.
The smoke is the gentlest of the major Cuban pyramids. First third opens with cedar, hay and a faint sweetness; the middle drifts into a creamy butter-and-honey core; the last third delivers a smooth, slightly toasty finish that holds without ever turning harsh. A box of 25 sits in the €465 to €555 range: Noblego runs around €485, Cigarmust CHF 530 (~€555). Often nominated as a 'gateway pyramid' for smokers who find the Monte No. 2 too forceful — gentler character, similar format, lower price.
