Cohiba Siglo II — tasting notes and pricing context
Released in 1992 with the rest of the Línea 1492 to mark the 500th anniversary of Columbus's first crossing, the Siglo II is the smallest and gentlest of the line — a 5.1-inch Marevas (the same dimensions as a Montecristo No. 4 or a Romeo Petit Coronas) wrapped in the lighter, silkier Línea 1492 blend. It's the Siglo most often recommended to smokers transitioning to Cuban premiums, because the format is unintimidating but the Cohiba blend is unmistakable.
The smoke is gentle from the start. First third opens with butter, hay and a faint floral note; the middle settles into Cohiba's trademark honeyed cedar; the last third delivers a smooth, slightly creamy finish with subtle sweetness that holds without ever turning harsh. Smoking time runs 35 to 45 minutes — the perfect length for an after-dinner espresso pairing. Across Europe a box of 25 sits in the €620 to €750 band: Germany's Noblego runs roughly €650, Belgium's LCDH Brussels around €670, Switzerland's Cigarmust CHF 750 (~€790 after FX). The €130 absolute spread is wide enough that a price-drop alert pays off; the Siglo II is also one of the more consistently in-stock Cohibas, which makes comparison-shopping easier than for the Robustos or Behikes.
