About this cigar
H. Upmann Connoisseur No. 1 — tasting notes and pricing context
The Connoisseur No. 1 was launched in 2010 as a Casa del Habano exclusive — initially distributed only through the worldwide network of authorised LCDH stores — and later promoted to standard production. At 5 inches by a 48 ring (Habanos calls the shape Hermoso No. 4, the same as Cohiba Siglo VI but slightly slimmer), it sits between H. Upmann's Magnum 46 and 50 in body and runs roughly an hour. The blend is slightly fuller than the standard Magnum series — a bit more ligero in the filler, a slightly darker wrapper — which gives the cigar a fuller body while staying within H. Upmann's signature gentle character.
The smoke is the most complex in the H. Upmann commercial line. First third opens with butter, hay and a faint toasted-almond note; the middle drifts into Hupmann's creamy cedar with a touch of espresso and a hint of dried fruit; the last third delivers a smooth, slightly sweet finish that holds for the full hour without burning hot. Across Europe a box of 25 sits in the €560 to €690 range: Noblego runs around €595, Cigarworld €610, Cigarmust CHF 660 (~€695 after FX), Italian licensed tabaccherie €605. The Connoisseur No. 1 ships less frequently than the Magnum series, which makes a watchlist back-in-stock alert genuinely useful for regular buyers.
