About this cigar
Montecristo No. 4 — tasting notes and pricing context
The Montecristo No. 4 is, by Habanos S.A.'s own accounting, the best-selling Cuban cigar in history. It's a 5.1-inch Mareva that's been in continuous production since 1935, and roughly one in five boxes Habanos ships globally each year is a box of No. 4s. The blend is medium-bodied with the Montecristo signature — earthy, woody, and a touch sweet — built around a Vuelta Abajo filler and a sturdy Habano wrapper that ages remarkably well in a humidor over three to five years.
The price-comparison value here is real. The No. 4 sits at the lowest end of the Cuban premium range, which means absolute price differences across Europe are small (€20–€50 per box) but the percentage spread is meaningful relative to the box price. Germany's Noblego runs around €358; Italy's licensed tabaccherie list it near €365 (per-stick pricing converted to box equivalent); Belgium's LCDH Antwerp posts €372; Switzerland's Cigarmust drops it to CHF 378 when discounted (~€395 after FX). Ireland's James J. Fox Dublin and the Netherlands' Hajenius round out the upper end. A weekly smoker can save the price of three or four sticks per box by comparing first.
