Montecristo Petit Edmundo — tasting notes and pricing context
The Línea Edmundo is the modern face of Montecristo. Launched in 2004 to capture the under-50-minute slot that the No. 4 had owned for decades, the line is named after Edmond Dantès — the count of Monte Cristo himself — and uses a slightly thicker ring gauge with a darker, oilier wrapper than the Línea Clásica. The Petit Edmundo is the shortest of the line at 4.3 inches with a 52 ring, designed for the busy professional who wants Montecristo flavour in under an hour.
The smoke is fuller-bodied than the No. 4 but stops well short of the No. 2's intensity. Expect rich espresso, leather, and a chocolate finish — Montecristo's signature notes amplified by the thicker ring gauge. The Petit Edmundo is also one of the smoothest younger Cubans, which makes it a frequent gift for transitioning Nicaraguan smokers. Pricing across Europe runs roughly €500 to €630 per box of 25, with Switzerland's Cigarmust frequently dropping into the lower CHF 600s during promotional cycles.
