The Next Cigar is published by Cristian Ortiz Suárez, a sole trader in Malmö, Sweden, at thenextcigar.com. This page says what we keep about you, where it lives, why, and how to make us stop. It is written from the code, not from a template, and it changes when the code does.
Reading the paper
You can read every article, the price board and the tools without an account. We set no analytics or advertising cookies. When you click from the board or an article to a retailer, to Amazon, or into our own shop, we add one to a counter for that day, that destination and that page — nothing about you: no address, no cookie, no device, no identifier. It exists so we can tell a retailer how many readers we sent them.
Price alerts
Saving a price alert stores your email address, the cigar you chose, your target price if you set one, and the dates alerts were sent. We use it to send you that alert and a receipt when you save it, nothing else. Emails go out through Resend. Every alert email carries an unsubscribe link, which deletes the subscription. The same applies to the release watch and the "newly listed" mail.
The newsletter
Subscribing stores your email with MailerLite, which sends the newsletter on our behalf under its own terms. Every issue has an unsubscribe link.
The Lounge
A Lounge account is a Supabase account. We hold your email, the display name and city you give, an avatar if you upload one, and what you do in the Lounge: check-ins, travel plans, introductions and messages to other members, event RSVPs, your humidor entries, watchlist, and any shop you submit to the map. Other members see your display name, city, avatar and check-ins; they never see your email. We do not sell or share any of it.
You can delete your account yourself, at any time, from your profile page: "Delete my account" removes the account and everything listed above. Shops you submitted to the map stay on the map; a shop's address is a public fact, not personal data.
The shop
Payment is taken by Stripe on Stripe's pages; we never see your card. Stripe sends us your name, email and shipping address for the order, which we store to fulfil it, to answer you about it, and for the seven years Swedish accounting law requires for the transaction record. Because goods ship from our supplier, your name and shipping address are passed to that supplier to deliver the parcel and for nothing else.

Where it lives
Supabase (accounts, Lounge data, alerts, orders, the click counter), Cloudflare (hosting; it sees requests as any host does), Stripe (payments), Resend (alert email), MailerLite (newsletter), Zoho (mailbox). Each processes data under its own agreement with us.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you can ask for a copy of what we hold, have it corrected, or have it deleted. Deletion of a Lounge account is self-service above; for anything else, email contact@thenextcigar.com from the address in question and we answer within a week. The exception is the order record we are required to keep for accounting. You can also complain to the Swedish Authority for Privacy Protection, IMY.
Age
The site is for people of legal age to buy tobacco where they live. We do not knowingly keep data on anyone younger; tell us and we remove it.
Changes
When what we keep changes, this page changes, with the date above.
