Frequently asked questions

Where is the cheapest place to buy Hoyo de Monterrey Epicure Especial in Europe right now?

The cheapest verified box of Hoyo de Monterrey Epicure Especial in Europe right now is at Noblego in Germany at approximately €545 for a box of 25 (about €21.80 per cigar). The full ranking — refreshed every six hours across 3 European retailers — is in the table above.

Prices and availability shift weekly. Save this SKU to your watchlist with the Save price alert button to get an email the moment any retailer in your country drops below your target price.

Will the listed price include duty + VAT for my country?

The Duty / Ships column above tells you exactly that. Each retailer listed price is all-in (excise duty + VAT included) only in their home country. Buy from a German retailer as a German buyer: what you see is what you pay. Buy cross-border (e.g. a Swiss retailer shipping to Germany, or any EU retailer shipping to the UK, Sweden, Denmark, Finland, or Ireland) and the destination country will charge its own tobacco excise + VAT at the door — typically €100–€300 extra on a box of 25 Habanos, sometimes much more for the UK.

If you set your destination country on the page, every row that is genuinely all-in for you gets highlighted in green. The dimmed rows are honest-looking prices that will cost more than they show.

How does Hoyo de Monterrey Epicure Especial compare to other Hoyo de Monterrey cigars?

The Epicure Especial joined the Le Hoyo line in 2008 to extend the Epicure family with a thicker, longer format. At 5.6 inches by a 50 ring (Habanos calls the shape Hermoso No. 1), it's noticeably bigger than the Epicure No. 2 and delivers more smoke per draw while keeping Hoyo's signature lighter, sweeter blend. The wrapper is the lighter, more uniform Habano that Hoyo de Monterrey uses across the Epicure family; the filler is a touch heavier on seco than the No. 2, which is what gives the Especial its slightly fuller body and longer finish.

If you want a side-by-side comparison of Hoyo de Monterrey other vitolas at current European prices, the SKUs we track are: Hoyo de Monterrey Epicure No. 2, Hoyo de Monterrey Le Hoyo de Río Seco. Each link opens its own live price-comparison page.

Is the price for Hoyo de Monterrey Epicure Especial likely to drop?

Habanos S.A. (the Cuban state tobacco monopoly) sets the worldwide release-price floor for every Habano in this catalogue. That floor went up roughly 40% during the 2022–2024 global price harmonisation, and Habanos has signalled further annual increases through 2027. So the long-term trend is up, not down.

Short-term, prices fluctuate at the retailer level — Swiss promotional weeks, German LCDH clearance, the occasional Spanish over-stock. The Finder catches those. A drop alert with no target price will email you on any meaningful reduction; setting a target locks the alert to your specific budget.

From the tasting notes

The smoke profile is unmistakably Hoyo. First third opens with hay, honey and a faint almond note; the middle drifts into Hoyo's creamy cedar-and-butter core; the last third delivers a long, slightly toasty finish with subtle sweetness. Smoking time runs 70 to 90 minutes. Across Europe a box of 25 sits in the €510 to €620 range: Germany's Noblego runs around €545, Switzerland's Cigarmust CHF 605 (~€635 after FX), Italy's licensed tabaccherie list €555. The €90 absolute spread is moderate, and Hoyo's allocation is consistently better than Cohiba's or Trinidad's — making the Epicure Especial one of the easier 'always available, always price-comparable' Cuban SKUs.
