Ramón Allones Specially Selected — tasting notes and pricing context
Ramón Allones is one of the oldest active Habanos brands, founded in Havana in 1837 and credited with inventing the cabinet-style cigar box still used today. Production was moved to the Partagás factory in the 20th century, which is why Ramón Allones shares Partagás's signature dense, earthy, full-bodied profile. The Specially Selected is the brand's flagship robusto — a 4.9-inch 50-ring cigar that's been in continuous production for decades.
The smoke is dense from the first puff. First third opens with dark earth, espresso and a touch of leather; the middle settles into Ramón's signature dark-cocoa-and-coffee core with a hint of dried fruit; the last third delivers a long, oily finish with leather and a whisper of cedar. Smoking time runs 60 to 75 minutes. A box of 25 sits in the €425 to €520 range: Noblego runs around €445, Cigarworld €455, Cigarmust CHF 495 (~€520). Often nominated as the best-value strong Cuban robusto — comparison-shopping pays off here.
